Straight As for education or straight As for Attitude?

March 21st, 2006 by chacat

My friend was complaining to me the other day, regarding the service she received from the customer service… she was telling me the gal had a hell of an attitude….she was so rude that she feel like slapping her right on the face…

Then she told me of an incident that happen months ago in a bus…she saw a  chinese man.. hmm should be around 50 years old who’s a mute giving up his seat for an old lady:ah ma…..

she told me what’s the use of scoring straight As for all the examination when you don’t even know what courtesy is……

that sort of reminds me of life in uni/college and school… i feel that most students these day are much more selfish… of course not all… but from the stories which i heard from my friends. i feel that it’s really hard to get a true friend in there….they may speak good words in front of you yet stab you in the back….how many of them are willing to share their research with other classmates? and how many of them truthfully wish that you do well in exam?

the pole which holds the lamp high up? or the lamp casing (what is it called??) to protect the bulb from rain and shine? or the bulb itself that shines on everyone???? haha in the end i chose to be the bulb.. not to be couple’s light bulb of course..hehe…

close shave….

February 19th, 2006 by chacat

today….. after 3 to 4 years of ‘tidak pernah pandu kereta’, i have my first try of driving a car.. though all i did was just to release the break and it automatically move forward1d6f_1

At 9pm, su yin came to fetch me to wetex parade to buy some stuff.. as there’shardly any parking space at time, i was suppose to wait in the ar while she run up to the 1st floor to do her errands… ALAMAK!! a policelady came walking from the front towards the car….. at first thought of pretending, putting on signal and just move the car slowly to the fornt.. but she end up standing there.. so pluck up my courage… then VROOM VROOM (haha kidding) all i need to do is release the break and the car automatically move forward… don’t even need to step on the accelerator except when i was turning corner….

at first thought of waiting for su yin at the levi’s shop.. AIKS!! su yin left her hp in the car!!… was pondering on what to do next when i saw a parking on the opposite..ZOOM in a slow manner, i drove the car to the parking…when i was about to do reversing, found out that i was too short to look behind.. now i’m really thankfull that there’s a thing call fromt mirror…. if there’s an examiner there, guess i’ll fail my parking..1d71

guess i was lucky her car was  ’scratch free’…

Happy…

how happy can a person be in a day?

hmmm why is it that at times when you’rte feeling on top of thew world, others are feeling sad?

why is that when others are feeling great, you’re at the bottom of the world?

what is it that can be done to counterbalance each other? how do you make yourself happy when the rest are happy too?

a decision of  can make you feel good yet sadden the rest, but when that decisoon is not taken, you’ll feel sad yet the rest will be happy…

aiyoh… banyak susah loh…haha

Origin of the Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year is now popularly known as the Spring Festival because it starts from the Begining of Spring, the first of the 24 jieqi. Its origin is too old to be traced. Several explanations are hanging around. All agree, however, that the word nian (year) was originally the name of a monster that started to prey on people the night before the beginning of a new year in accordance with the Chinese calendar.

One legend goes that the monster nian had a very big mouth that would swallow a great many people with one gulp. People were very scared. One day, an old man came to their rescue, offering to subdue nian. When n ian came, he said to it, "I hear that you are very resourceful, but can you swallow the other beasts of prey on earth instead of people who are by no means of your worthy opponents?" So, nian eliminated a great number of the beasts that had preyed on people and their domestic animals and drove what was left into the depth of forests and mountains.

Then, the old man mounted the beast and left. He turned out to be an Immortal. Now that nian was gone and other beasts of prey were also scared into forests, people began to enjoy their peaceful life. Before the old man’s departure, he had told them to put up red paper decorations on their windows and doors, and burn bamboos to make cracking noises before a new year to deter nian from sneaking back, for red was the color the beast feared the most.

The tradition of observing the conquest of the beast nian has been carried on from generation to generation. The term guonian, which originally meant "survive the nian" has gradually become "celebrate the (New) Year" as the word guo has a double meaning of "pass-over" and "observe." Today, the custom of pasting red paper (now couplets with words of good wishes) and firing fire-crackers is still going strong. However, people have long forgotten why they are doing all this, except that they feel the color and the sound add a lot to the excitement of the New Year celebration.

the man who cried sick….

January 14th, 2006 by chacat

well since i have nothing much to post….. thought i will write out a little story which i heard and i think it’s a good advice for me…

Mr A loves to takes day off and he canawlays come up with lots of excuses

One day, his boss got fed-up when Mr A teold him that he’s sick.. so his boss decided to send him to hospital for check up since Mr A is ’sick’. At Hospital XXX, the doctor who exmaine Mr A ask the boss to send him to another hospital as the Dr cannot figure out what’s wrong with him. So, the boss send him to another hopsital K which ended up being Mr A being put up at psychiatrist ward which may be a.k.a asylum. Cos the door of the ward is grilled type…. there are even security guard there… brrr…..

Mr A has to stay at least for four days (as 1 of the day was a public holiday) before his brother came for him…

Lesson learn: never every lie that you’re sick or you may be sent to an asylum..beware!!!!
